Idris Elba, the 33 year old, 6′3″, piece of chocolate heaven…… is on the cover of August’s edition of Essence Magazine, looking absolutely delicious……. so I had to cop a read mainly because I couldn’t resist the fine ass photographs of this talented, up and coming, English actor.

If you are unfamiliar with the name, Idris Elba starred in HBO’s series The Wire, as Stringer Bell, a no-nonsense drug dealer, (err I hate writing those words) but anyways….Idris’s skills as an actor were obviously picked up as he went on to take on major roles in movies including ‘The Gospel’ (2005), ‘Daddy’s Little Girl’ (2007) with Gabrielle Union and ‘RockNRolla’(2007) an English Gangsta movie, directed by Guy Ritchie.

Elba even had a role alongside Denzel Washington in American Gangster and his most recent, and probably biggest, role to date was in ‘Obsessed’ in which he co-starred with Beyoncé Knowles.

Idris On Dating:

“I’d rather date someone who’s regular. But what often happens is that she faces huge criticism like , ‘Why her? She’s Miss. Ordinary’ ”

Idris on the type of woman he likes:

“Be an independent woman. I love that……”

“But at the same time don’t be ashamed to, you know, throw your toys on the floor and let me pick them up.”

*smh* Baby…. that one got me I’m like awwww….he wants to take care of you …. you know when you throw a little hissy fit because you want some attention…..he’s the kind of guy that gives you the attention! ……I’m kicking myself right now wondering WHY, when he was a DJ and actor in London, did I never scoop this guy up?!

Idris on relationships:

“There is something quite devious about my personality,” he confides with a sly grin. “I’ll do all the right things. I’ll be the upstanding gentleman but behind closed doors, I want to let loose. As long as I know my secrets aren’t going to get out. You know what I mean?”

I think I’m in love right now…..no word of a lie…..Its true love! =D

Idris on children and break-ups: (he has a 7 year old daughter he calls his “sweetheart”….awwww)

“It’s complicated when you were once an item and then you’ve got this child who is so untouched by the drama that you both had…..I understand how people get hurt and have arguments. But we work through it.”

So there you have it ladies……. Idris Elba is the perfect man! Unfortunately, Essence’s senior writer Jeannine Amber shares the hearbreaking news that he has a girlfriend! ……yes, my heart sank too…..but at least we know he’s not married…….there’s always a chance……lol, OK …I’m going to stop…

I wish him and his girlfriend the best of luck and mi amours should look out for his album that he is currently working on…..it seems like it will be a nice variety of material…it even has reggae on it!

Oh, well….. I’m sold…..Idris Elba is officially the best thing since sliced bread, a talented actor, gorgeous piece of ass ….and just like me he’s from LONDON, East London, but London nonetheless….our connection remains! =D
