**EXCLUSIVE: NICKI MINAJ Interview By Cherie Amour**

Nicki Minaj Talks Rappers, Sex, Regrets, getting Signed and Gives relationship advice, plus Much More!!

With Cherie Amour

Cherie Amour: Recently, you mentioned that you were working on a new album, focusing a bit more on singing, which you did prior to rapping, but who can we expect to be featured on your up and coming project?

Nicki Minaj: Well, I am doing a lot of work with Lil Wayne right now so you can definitely expect to see him on there and …. you know, I don’t really know as far as artist wise, because I like to record my music and then I’ll listen to it and think of what artist would sound good as a feature on it.

There’s a couple joints that I think Gucci Mane would sound good on… but as of right know I’m kind of just recording on my own, with no features really and when I get it to a complete point then I think I’ll start throwing on those features.

I like pretty much everybody that is doing it right now but I would love to maybe do something with …. I don’t know Fergie…. You know I just did a song with Trina recently I did a song with Teairra Mari, Eric Benet recently. Those aren’t for my album but I have a good relationship with all of the artists so … I’m just going to figure it out when I get to that point.

Cherie Amour: Do you have a title for your new album yet?

Nicki Minaj: Umm… no I’m working on that to… I still haven’t decided.

Cherie Amour: In the last 6 months you’ve really blown up but what is it that is different about Nicki Minaj that has made you become so popular, in your opinion?

Nicki Minaj: You know what to be honest I really wish I knew. I think I just happened to come out at a very interesting time. You know about two years ago I started, I was on DVD’s and I was like the only female rapper on those DVD’s and you know Remi Ma got Locked up and I was pretty much the only New York female rapper… and you know with the Co-sign from Lil Wayne and everybody else started taking notice …. It’s almost like, I guess I was like…. I became like the ‘IT’ girl, you know….. I had a whole bunch of joint with Gucci and I did the ‘I am Music tour’ with Wayne.

To be honest I think I’m really known for my interviews and just being more of like a character as opposed to a rapper. I think that would probably be what I would say, kind of separates me from everybody else. I’m a character, like I’ma come in there with you know,  like some pink hair and a tutu dress on and, you know, I’ll say “It’s Barbie Bitch”… and that’s just who I am. I’ve never been one to blend in and I never will.

Cherie Amour: In some of your songs and interviews you talk and rap with a very good English accent, so does Nicki Minaj have some attachment to the U.K. that we don’t know about?

Nicki Minaj: [Talking with a very good English accent] OMG, I love the UK, like I’m crazy about you…. I love the way your talking right now. [End accent] Seriously if I could talk like that all day I would but people look at me like I’m crazy…. Everybody around me wants to strangle me because I do that accent all day. I studied acting and so, you know, we had to do Shakespeare plays and stuff like that and we would do like the accent all the time…. I was never formerly trained on that accent but I just freeking LOVE it….. since I’ve been a little girl I LOVE that accent.

I can’t wait to come out there and, you know, get a taste of the culture because I’ve never been out there.

Cherie Amour: So are there any up and coming UK dates?

Nicki Minaj: No, I was supposed to come with Wanye, when he was supposed to do a quick overseas tour in the UK, maybe like a week or two ago but he got a little bit sick so as of right now I don’t know about anything. But we’re about to do the America’s Most Wanted Tour. Young Money is on that Tour, with Wayne and Jeezy and Soulja boy and Drake so …but that’s just in America, I don’t know about anything coming up for the UK, but I can’t wait.

Cherie Amour: Is there anything you would like to say to your UK fans?

Nicki Minaj: Yea I’d like to say that, what I’m doing right now is that I’m trying to bridge the gap between girl power and industry power. Because I think that I’m definitely spearheading the girl power movement but I want to be the first person to be like, a female mogul. I don’t feel like a lot of female rappers were able to venture into that… you know into being a boss… and I think it’s possible, I definitely think it’s possible to attain… and that’s really my goal.

In addition to that my music is fun, it’s switching into my regular New York accent, and going into an English accent or a Jamaican accent or whatever, like I’m all about having fun but at the end of the day handling my business.

That’s what I want people to know about me and I represent Young Money, shout out to everybody over there and you guys can hit me on twitter.com/NickiMinaj because I’d love to hear feedback from them and can purchase the CD on myspace.com/NickiMinaj, if they don’t know what my music is or just go on youtube and you can find tons of old videos I did. That’s a great way for them to start really getting to know me.

Cherie Amour: Who is your Favourite Rapper?

Nicki Minaj: My favourite rapper is still Lil Wayne, I was a huge, huge Jay-Z fan when I was coming up, I loved listening to Kim, Foxy, Remi…. Shout out to all the female rappers by the way, Trina…. But I’d definitely say Lil Wayne cos his versatility… and to me what he does gives me the reassurance that you can be you and you can be a little different and you don’t have to be like everybody else… and people will still like you.

Cherie Amour: Are you currently signed?

Nicki Minaj: I’m negotiating my deal going to do a press release within a week to let everybody know who I’m officially signed with, so that’ll be interesting.

Sex and Relationships:

Biggest Turn on:

Nicki Minaj: I guess my biggest turn on would be someone that aims to please and doesn’t aim to be pleased because if they are aiming to please then I’m pretty sure we can… we’ll hit a home run.

Biggest Turn off:

Nicki Minaj: As far as a turn off I don’t like chest hairs, that’s gross.

Cherie Amour: Sex with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?

Nicki Minaj: Tupac

Cherie Amour: Is Nicki Minaj straight or bi or whatever you want Nicki Mianj to be?

Nicki Minaj: Exactly, I’m not straight I’m curly, I like to wear my hair curly, I like big poofy hair.

nicki-minaj-and-amber-rose-at-amwtour1

Cherie Amour: So is Nicki Minaj taken or single at the moment?

Nicki Minaj: (English Accent) I’m single I have to say that, I think that you know, young people really need to focus, you know, on their careers and stuff and you know, I’m one of those people that I’m so driven right now, you know what I mean, I can’t worry about all those things that come along with a relationship, so It’s almost like, I’m just like focused on my money, you know what I mean like, so all that stuff like the marriage and the kids and the white picket fence, you know and the little dog, you know it’ll come later.

Cherie Amour: What’s the most important lesson you have learnt from a past relationship?

Nicki Minaj: I’ve learned that when you focus on you, that person has no choice but to focus on you, when you focus on them, they focus on them. I believe that every relationship is one sided, I think it’s a myth if you think relationship is two sided, it’s never going to be a 50/50 relationship and I think girls usually get them short end of the stick, because you know were very catering, and nurturing and all that stuff and I think sometimes it can scare the guy away. You know I think it’s just better to be a bitch!

Cherie Amour: Represent the modern young woman of today. What is the most valuable lesson you would like to share with those your girls?

Nicki Minaj: Well one thing I stress whenever I do a show, because I have this saying step your cookies up, and I think people thought I was talking about sex and it’s not one thing that I’m very passionate about with all of my young girls is the need for them to have some sort of a higher education.

You know I think it’s really really dope to go to college and to study, just study something that gives you an edge, you know on life, and if I could tell them one thing, you know, I learned in my life the hard way, was you know, how important college would have been and that’s one thing that I wish, I always wish I would have done, was go to college and I think that people who go to college have less regrets.

And so I strongly urge all my Barbies to go to school, and to make the most out of it and to cherish that time because it never comes back. It’s cool to be smart, it’s cool to be a business savvy girl and grow into a business savvy woman and then you don’t have those issues with guys feeling that they can control you. You don’t need their money, you don’t need anything from them and you can just be you and DO you.

Cherie Amour: Your music conveys a message about empowerment and confidence and what is it that has given the level of confidence that you have that has propelled you into this level of success?

Nicki Minaj: You know I was like really really close to my mother when I was growing up but the only thing I didn’t like about my mother was that I felt like she was submissive and I felt like she didn’t really take charge in her life, and I guess in a weird way, psychologically I just made it my business to never be like that.

You know I take the good from my mother but I refuse to take that, the bad, from her. So I promised myself from I was a little girl that I would never have a problem speaking my mind and I would never have anyone control me and I think sometimes I go so hard at trying not to be like my mother in that way that it gets a little too much.

So it’s all about learning how to balance it but I think that the worse thing you can do is be a female with no voice, and I’ll never do that ever, ever, ever, ever, ever in my life.

Cherie Amour: Any performances in coming up in New York?

Nicki Minaj: Well I perform every week, two days ago I was in Memphis, Tennessee and they were amazing. Tomorrow I will be in Atlanta, Georgia, I’ll be in Utica, New York on the 13th of August and Washington D.C. on the 15th [August].

You can always find out where I will be by going to NickiMinajFans.com. But I’m pretty much going everywhere right now, I’m just trying to get my name out there and stuff like that.

Let me know what you think guys…. and keep it locked for ’The Nicki Minaj Competition’ and a chance to win Nicki Minaj goodies!!

  3. Simone

This was a great interview and i really enjoyed reading nicki’s responses exspecially on the subject of girl empowerment because i am also one for getting an education and i am really excitied to know that someone with as much influence as the beautiful nicki minaj feel the same way and spread the world to all girls all over the world that there is nothing like an education because when you have one nobody can take it away from you, you know.

  5. Cherie Amour

Thank you gurlies! and apologies for the images :/ I didnt realise….

@Simone: I definately agree with you honey…. It is so important and honestly that is one of the biggest reasons that I like her because she does actually have more to offer than merely lyrics and sex appeal she has a wonderful brain and a caring soul …plus like you said she is spreading the word about educating our young women and we need more people in such high profile positions to do that!

Thanks again for the comments ladies! xcxcxcx

  6. koolaid

to tell yall the truth she aint all that she wont to be likim but she cant catch up with ehr cuz lilkim den sold so many albums ins tanky rich*

  7. Yeah, I have had that problem, where I enjoy the post, but I have no experience with the subject, . So when I have time I try to think of something to say and when I don’t I move along wishing I did.

  8. i really liked this interview and i really like nicki minaj and my wish is to meet her and to hug her cause she’s such a role model to me so nicki please try to hit me up and my wish will be completed…………….

  9. Narnar

She teaches little girls, teenagers and even grown women (like her) to be whores and skanks. If you want to fill your mind with her pathetic music, her attempts on being the in-thing, go ahead. I will gaurantee you that she will fail in about a year or two, because she ran out of ideas. She even says she does this music thing for purely money; doesn’t care much of being a good role models or making meaningful music. Her dreamworld idea of “being a good model” and claiming this to the media is just another way to cover up her true sex-selling music and profanity. And creating a fad of being bisexual/homosexual and wearing tight revealing clothes.

Quit making homosexuals look bad and quit trying the accents and fake hair!

Do us all a favor Nicki, and put some clothes on. Your boob might slip out from a super small and tight push-up bra.. that is probably 10 sizes smaller. She is such an embarrassment and a phony.

  10. Narnar

Cherie, honestly, what do you think she is educating women about? People who have a loving and caring souls don’t go around putting pussies on peoples’ sideburns and creating a false image. If you have yet to realize, many young girls try to imitate her and grab what they call, the shot of the American dream.

Nicki has gone through numerous surgeries just to appeal to her audience and to make herself “representable”, because whoever set her for this, said she was probably not good looking enough for the job. You sell yourself to the devil and that’s all.

What she is doing is educating women to become the “ghetto”, trash-talking, and sell sex, provoking men to stare at women in sexual ways, and promote the idea of having to be like her to get somewhere. Not to mention her lyrics do not make sense, no matter what she claims. And when someone is trying too hard, they are.

And before anyone makes judgments, I am not an older women going against everything in this world. I am actually a 16 year old female, living in Brooklyn and knows trouble when there’s trouble. Nicki Minaj is trouble and troubled.

  12. Kylie

I LOVE Nicki Minaj. She is definetely my favorite female rapper. I love that she doesn’t want to blend in. I just wish she would be straight forward about her sexuality cuz i think its important for her to show that she is comfortable with herself. But even if she never does i will always love her! (:

  13. Melanie
